Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Oddly enough, this has started occurring again for me. After a month or so of not running into it, it suddenly started again. I've updated to the latest driver but no go.
I've yet to install the new drivers. I've been just doing light gaming on my 5870 in the mean while. I'll probably switch it back out for the 290x later tonight and install the new drivers.
I'll report back of anything new. I'll also try the turning off HDR for FFXIV
I request my RMA a couple days ago right before I saw that they are releasing drivers to fix it. My shipping label is going to expire next Monday so I'm going to wait it out.
Hopefully drivers come out "end of this week", I can test it over the weekend. If it works, then I won't ship it back...
I have about 6 more days before my 30 days is up for me to RMA it back to newegg. I set my FFXIV settings to "Desktop High" as oppose to max, and it crashed after 2 minutes :(. Well the crashes are random but it the crashing really deters me from playing.
I haven't read anything that AMD recognized it yet. I wish they did :(, definitely would be peace of mind. I'm still experiencing it every now and then. I've been just playing ps3 in the mean time
I'll see if I can find an older game that may run in to this issue.
Here is a survey form AMD for 13.11 if anyone wants to fill one out and describe the black screen issue

Hi Desgaizu,
Try playing in full screen mode (no windows or borderless window) and also do you happen to run 2 or more monitors? I wanna see if there's a trend going on.
Though maybe the full screen/borderless may have nothing to do with it. It actually black screened on me earlier today while...
I've only seen it happen to me with Final Fantasy XIV and BF4. Games like Dota 2, LoL, and Source Engine games don't seem to run into this issue. After the black screen, I turn off and back on my computer and I can resume whatever I needed to do.
Oddly enough, I've yet to run into this issue...
The vcore and PCH setting didn't seem to have helped, both of them are ramped up but still encountering the issue. When it happens, I can still speak through Ventrilo for about 20 seconds before it freezes up though any music playing will continue onwards. As branden said, have to hard shut down...
I'm glad I'm not the only one running into this issue (though I much rather have it that none of us had this issue)
I played BF4 and FFXIV in full screen, and I don't seem to ever encounter the black screen. I'm only noticing it on borderless on more graphically intense games. Games like Dota 2...
