Hi there,
I've been out of the soundcard scene for some time! Any advice would be most appreciated.
I have an Onkyo A/V reciever and would like to take a 'digital optical out' connection from my pc to the reciever. I have files on the pc with DTS sound so would like my A/V reciever and...
WATCH THIS SPACE! (I hope it does OC better coz Ive decided on the Opty 146 now! lol)
Behold the components to my new system! Should be ready in a few weeks (I hope) - The Opteron is going to take time to get :(
Im thinking if I should start a thread that states the reason for me...
Firsly thanks for the advice! It is appreciated! However, I did a lot of research on the CPU Coolers and found a link here regarding the XP-120:

It seems from the pictures that all Memory slots can be used and there is good...
Well the point of this thread was whether the extra £50 is justified :D The problem is, there havent been parallel alongside benchmarks of the 144 Vs 146. This would be very very very interesting to see. I think Eclipse has gathered this (after overclocking with the 144) and wants to also find...
Hey Eclipse,
Yeh you caught me out! :D
What can I say, im still confused etc etc.. hard to keep up with this stuff, with the flu and all that...
Have you got your 146 yet?
Hi all,
I am looking at the Socket 939 Opteron 144 (£120) and Opteron 146 (£170). Can you guys tell me which one would be the better to go for? I know the 144 has a x9 multi and the 146 has a x10 multi. That is about it though really!
Thanks for the help,
RickyS
The problem is I dont know what I can or cant crank up at this point! lol. I have most of the bits for the new rig at the moment, but no case or processor! So im not going to be able to analyse what the HTT is like and its limits :(
I do know that I have to wait 3 weeks for the 146 and only 2...
yea, that's what Eclipse was saying. The Ram should be fine with dividers. However, I am also running the Crucial Ballistix RAM - made for overclocking! What do you guys think, 146 or 144?
Hi all,
Some of you will know that I have been researching and looking into the spec of a new rig for myself! Viewed from my signature, I dont think its that bad! But, I have been moaning about the processor since yesterday.. im back at the crossroads and would love to know your opinions...
Yea, i gathered the 10x multi vs the 9x multi.. but im thinkin.. will it make that much difference? Both chips have the same core. I am sure that they will both overclock to the same extent, however I understand it that the 10x multi puts less stress on components.
From what Eclipse has...
Thanks eclipse! Your articles helped a lot :D So, summarising, it doesnt matter which opteron I go for (ie I may aswell go for the 144?) This would lead me onto the next question (and hopefully last before I make the order :) ,
why is there a lot of commotion about the 146 Opterons??
Hey Eclipse :D
I dont really know too much about what im talking about, im still choosing the right components to build my new pc (which is the reason why I started this thread! lol). I was settled on the Opteron 144 all the way (with x9 multiplier) but i've been reading how this will...
Im debating whether to go for the Opty 148 running a 12X multiplier. My main reason for this is because im running Crucial Ballistix 1GB X2 RAM...
Any views on this? WIll the 144 or 146 or 148 be better for me! ??
