Well, my beloved monitor finally croaked.
I bought it in August 2007 and replaced the power supply about 3 years later. I even mounted a slow-turning muffin fan on a cutout over the power supply to keeps temps under control, but alas, the monitor began to flicker/freeze more frequently about...
I seem to recall that the replacement power supply I bought from Taobao (for about $20!) a few years ago was labeled "Rev 311." The monitor has been used for 8 hours a day for the past 2 years with that new power supply. The old supply ran so hot you couldn't touch the heatsink for several...
This thread is probably hardly read by anyone at this point, but it must be a testament to the perceived quality of the Soyo monitor that so many people would care so much to keep the darn thing working.
I bought my monitor 4 1/2 years ago at Office Max, then about 2 years ago I did the Taobao...
Just wanted to chime in here to mention that we've switched our two pots phone lines out for an Ooma Hub/Scout system a few months ago, and it works great. Sound quality is almost always excellent (the Muzak coming across from some businesses while on hold sounds a bit ratty), and calls in and...
As discussed over on the other board, I was able to order a replacement power supply board (revision 311) from TaoBao over in China. Total cost including shipping was only about $25. Shipping took about 10 days; I picked it up from the local Post Office earlier today and installed it within an...
Okay, maybe a bit premature, but it looks like 98% of the issues we all are having with these wonderful monitors are power-supply-related. Since Soyo went belly-up last year, I thought I was going to have to trash my monitor and spend ~$500 to get a comparable screen. The old power supply in...
Fixed the issue with my panel by installing a tiny fan inside the chassis, mounting it with silicone adhesive so that it blows directly on the power supply board heat sinks. I had tried this some months earlier, but quickly tired of the fan noise. This time I used a resistor in series to drop...
Talk about a love/hate affair. This monitor, when working properly, is just wonderful. But it appears that some internal components are not up to the task.
As I've indicated in the above post, there are issues, probably heat-related. But I just came across another site where some users are...
I've posted several times over the years. Got my p-mva monitor in September '07, so 2+ years of continuous service. From time to time, however, monitor will flash off and back on. I would assume it's something to do with the backlight, but I seem to recall that when this happens, the screen...
My P-MVA screen is approaching 2 years of daily use. About a month ago, the screen started to intermittently flicker, but I deduced that it wasn't a lighting issue, since any activity on the display would also freeze momentarily. Power cycling would fix it. Finally, last week it got much...
Hey, with VGA I see no issues that could be improved with DVI. Miniature icons down in my system tray with single pixel detail are completely crisp and sharp--and this is at the extreme lower-right part of the monitor. So I don't see how DVI could possibly improve the display.
But I suppose...
Geeks.com has the DYLM24D6 for $173. These are refurbs, but so what--the question is whether they are the P-MVA models or just TN.
By the way, my P-MVA Soyo 24" has been in constant use since about September 2007, or about 1 1/2 years, no issues at all, driving it through the VGA port...
Bought one of these from the local OfficeMax in September 2007 for a bit under $300. Used every day but with power settings that shut off the backlight overnight.
What an incredible deal--vivid, accurate colors, no color shifts, extremely stable and pixel-accurate image (VGA, never tried...
