    souja9, presuming you've got the 250gig JB formatted ntfs, and you've used computer management/adminstrative tools to map the drive to your 'my documents' folder... doesn't ntfs' encryption come into play if you format/reinstall windows xp? like, does the data on the 250gig still remain...
