Probably because they're being displayed wrong. If you tell an sRGB to display red 100%, it does, if you tell a wide gamut monitor to do that, it's oversaturated (or "more vivid"), unless everything else is set up correctly :)

I've gone with Amazon UK because their return policy is fantastic so I know if I have any problems, it'll be easy to deal with

Hence you'd have to calibrate both to make it fair. The settings on both will be completely different from each other. It would be very easy to make the Philips look amazing, and the LG look crap ;)

You need to calibrate both your monitors for a fair test

How long ago did you order it?

I've seen the word M4 screws get thrown around this thread a fair bit, if you search back you should find it

Well it's the first I've heard of it, it's likely a lone issue. RMA?

Pretty sure ghosting was a known thing on Retina MBPs, that Apple were to fix or something
