Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
This will still mainly just be a budget rig for my buddy to play D3, SC2, etc for the next few years. No need to be running on ultra or anything.
If he were to up his budget to $800, what items would you swap up Danny? The CPU or gpu first, and then also the mobo maybe? And how much more...
Thanks as always for the speedy response Danny. I showed my buddy and he is excited, and is about to go deposit money into his account to purchase it this evening I believe.
Thanks again.
Howdy guys. I am back with yet another build plan for a buddy. Here is the sticky info, and as always thanks for any and all info and help. Much appreciated.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
This build will be mainly focused on Diablo 3 and...
Congrats on the fun new build! How is the final product as far as sound levels at idle and while benchmarking with all those fans? And did you decide if you are going to someway mount the stock huge fan from the Level 10 with the H100?
Okay, I just talked to him and scolded him to give me some more definite decisions. We can plan for a 21" monitor in the near future (~3 months).
The old monitor is I believe a 17" square Dell flat monitor of some sort (his words).
Let's plan on roughly 3 weeks out, if you don't mind that...
Helping a friend who has been stuck in a laptop phase for the past 5 years build a new desktop. He will be using it mainly for web browsing and gaming (from D3 up to B3, Skyrim, etc. on Ultra if possible). As always, any and all info and suggestions is appreciated. Here's lookin' at you Danny =D...
If he went with Gigabyte Ultra Durable VGA Series Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5
$159.99 - 13% = $139.19 (Also has $20 MIR to bring down to $119.19 AR)
Would this be an acceptable card even if he upgraded to a 1080p monitor? Just seeing if he could drop his cost slightly since he is mainly planning...
I have never owned a SSD and I just jumped on that Intel 320 - 160GB drive w/ BF3. I figure I don't mind waiting for a rebate, it basically is forcing me to not spend that money. And I will try and sell BF3 for at least $20, making it $135 after all is said and done. I can live with that.
It is, but only $20 more after rebate, which I plan on doing and don't really mind.
I think for $20, it is worth it for the XFX name. If anyone else thinks otherwise, I would love to hear from you.
Okay, so I had decided on this card:
XFX HD-695X-CDFC Radeon HD 6950 2GB
But, now I see this for a cheaper price:
DIAMOND 6950PE52G Radeon HD 6950 2GB
So, I don't see much of a difference between these cards. But, I also do not have that much knowledge when it comes to GPUs.
How...
