They really weren't made for you to track info to give to your doctor. The info is for you to help your workout/fitness routine etc. This is live giving my computer setup info to my plumber... he doesn't care, it wasn't made for him.
Yup... Having played the multiplayer beta, its pretty bland. The Star Wars world is great and all, but once that novelty wares off, you are left with a really bland game without much "fun factor". The weapons are a yawner too.
I think that has to do with how they review games. They review 95% based on the single player experience which has been a bore-fest since COD4-MW. However, that isn't what people play. They play multiplayer which is fun as bloody hell and something that all COD games have mastered. Its not as...
Are you using DVI or analog? I had that exact same issue when I conencted my Dell 2407 via DVI, but then tried using analog, and it worked... I then put back the DVI connector and the new res worked. Its worth a try.
I do see your point, but its not quite like a conspiracy to "prey on people who care solely about desk space and weight, not picture quality"
LCD's dominated the market quickly becasue most people prefer them over CRT. At first it was just the normal base windows/MS office/Internet users...
Agreed CRT has better blacks. but its not as drastic as the 1000:1 vs. 15000:1 would lead someone to believe. If you are doing CAD, or are for some other reason very sensitive to perfect color representation and black levels, then CRT is certainly the best. But CRT is a dying industry, difficult...
I dunno... My 2407WFP has a Samsung S-PVA panel, and its pretty darn Dark when adjusted properly. To me its a very close 2nd to a good CRT. I wouldnt say "forever to catch up" at all.
I would also add that this image is not necesarily representative of all LCD vs all CRT. I had my Dell 2407WFP up next to my Mitsubishi 2070sb in several games (UT2k4, Q4, FEAR, HL2 lost coast demo) and could harldy tell a difference at all. Very close, although edge did go to the CRT.
To me...
Based on your post, I would say you already have a pretty good handle on the situation... No matter what, You need to decide this on your own, but here is my 2 cents.
Advantages of a good LCD -
Sharper clearer text
no need to calibrate screen for every resolution and refresh rate
Refresh...
Likely because when you are gaming, seriously into it gaming, you dont really have time to stop and analyze the fact that the picture quality is better, deeper richer colors and deep black levels are nice, when you slow down and look at it, but not at all needed for games. I have recently...
Thats pretty standard when you buy goods on the internet...
Plus side: Cheaper price
Down side: you pay for returns.
I cant fault Dell on this one, all etailers have that same policy...
End result: Don't buy stuff (especially expensive stuff) on the internet it if you aren't sure...
I have been researching this alot, and one thing is very clear... The banding issue exists on some 2407 units and not others (the firmware revision has nothing to do with it, there are rev A00,01,02,03 unit without the banding issue and there are rev A00,01,02,03 units with the banding issue...
They should in theory be about the same... Both are made with Samsung S-PVA panels, the diference being the size and aspect ratio. I just bought the 2407, and couldnt be happier. There were some early units that had banding issues, but that is resolved now, anything you get from Dell will be rev...
