Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
The p6860fx is only available at BB and BB.com. You can't get it on the Gateway site. I also noticed when I was on the gateway site there were very few, if any component upgrade options. It looks like you have to buy most models as-is from them.
I got the p6860fx from BB here in NYC for $1249. They were running a special so I got $100.00 off and I signed up for a BB Rewardzone card (its free) and got $20.00 in gift certificates. It also came with a free game. Not too shabby.
I wasn't psyched about Vista, so I spent the first...
Thanks for the info. Its greatly appreciated. I'm almost ready to go past the n00b stage to the semi-n00b stage.
Does anyone know of a good tutorial for overclocking RAM?
Anyone got some insight into which stability tests are best?
If you don't mind be asking, how much did it cost you? Have you really seen a performance difference?
I just upgraded to a pair of Raptor 74GB's in RAID 1 and have not been all that impressed. Just curious about how good you think the memory upgrade you made was.
Thanks ghost6303. I will try that. I'll also up the vCore as you suggested.
Now I can't wait to get home and stabilize this system. I bought the e6600 to get to 3.4ghz and I'd hate to fall short.
Thanks. I will up the Memory stick voltage to stock 1.9, and adjust the timings.
So is the Orthos SP2004 BLENDED the best test for stability? Anyone else using the same corsair RAM or have any tips about rec'd timing.
I upped the CPU voltage slightly to get to 3.2, and have no trouble...
I have my memory unlinked and pinned at 800 Mhz. Are you saying I should lower it, or change it to auto? Could that be the cause of my problems?
Sorry to answer your great advice with a question. I'm just trying to figure things out?
I have an e6600 on an EVGA 680i mobo and I can't seem to get it past 3.2 ghz, at least not and keep it stable.
It boots at higher speeds, and when I run SP2004's Small FFT test its fine. Its reasonably cool at 31C at idle and 45C under load. When I try to run the blended test it craps out...
