My 2005 is still alive and kicking, albeit in someone elses care now, as I moved on a few years ago. But I understand your pain and send my condolences.
Also, when the infected drive was made a secondary drive to try and back it up, when the system had internet access it started port scanning the other systems on the network behind the firewall.
Update:
I disconnected the secondary drives and booted Windows normally just to see what would happen, the system booted right up, correctly, as good as ever. So a couple minutes later I went to shut it down and the system gave me a warning that windows explorer was taking too long to close...
Last week I got hit with the antispyware soft virus if anyone is familiar with it, and I dealt with it with a combo of malwarebytes, eset, and ccleaner.

Maybe the OP can find out some additional details, like if the drives files are still accessible by putting the HD into another system? If so, was it scanned for any undesirable crap that could be on there? Ive seen several instances where these types of attacks only cripple windows system...
