    DVI-D vs VGA...

the higher end cables typically come with better end connects and probably are dual link. The ones you buy at monoprice for $6 though are dual link, so that isn't always an advantage either. It really comes to the end connections, and I would personally pay $1 or maybe $2 more for better end...

    DoubleSight DS-263N - 26"

I never ever have gotten a dead or even a stuck pixel to be fixed... I believe DS has a 3 pixel return policy if the pixels are in the center and 4 everywhere else.

what is best 24" for extreme gaming, period.

Best overall non pro gaming monitor imo is the doublesight 26"..... Its pretty much the planar, $200 cheaper, and a chance to get a built in polarizer to make it look even better than the planar. It does not have height adjustment though.

Is there a good 24" 8-bit panel for gaming?

I had the Soyo 24", I guess I had a defective monitor or something because it had a mediocre picture. It was the VA version too. I also had the westinghouse, same deal.

[Needs Advice] The Endless Quest for a Gaming Display

I probably should of said no LCD monitor that I know of supports more than 60Hz at native resolution. There could be some out there, but I dont believe any are documented. Also I know there are LCD TVs that do 120Hz, but no monitors yet. I also never said over 60Hz wouldnt help (atleast i...

probably doesnt steve. Probably just has the setting. Even some manufactures have claimed 75Hz but all they do is drop frames.

[Needs Advice] The Endless Quest for a Gaming Display

I dont like going around saying the human eye can do this or that, I am no doctor I do not know. I will say this though, LCDs wont be as good as CRTs for gaming, PERIOD, but they arent far off. I think though that 60Hz isn't the biggest problem, its that no matter what, there will always...

[Needs Advice] The Endless Quest for a Gaming Display

Well I have no real recommendations for you atm, but I will say this. with a max resolution of 1280x1024 you pretty much limited yourself to a 17" or a 19" 5:4 display. NO LCD monitor can do more than 60Hz, when you set a monitor higher than 60Hz it just drops frames, which is bad...

    DoubleSight DS-263N - 26"

Its a lotto ticket sure, but its still a steal assuming these defects go down in number. The planar didnt have a polarizer and it was $900, $700 for a monitor that has better picture quality than any monitor in its price range is still a good value. Its not exactly the same as the lotto as...

    DoubleSight DS-263N - 26"

Uhh the hint of red tint is also a characteristic of the NEC 26" with the polarizer. From what I hear about SIPS is its not just a hint of red, its more of a orange thats as obvious as the white glow of the NON polarized Planar. Heres a picture of the planar next to the NEC. Picture...

    DoubleSight DS-263N - 26"

Sorry, mine has the polarizer. I had the Planar without polarizer and the white glow was very noticeable. My DS does not have this glow at all instead has a little bit of a red tint to it that from what I hear is common with HIPS with a polarizer. If you go to page 12 of this post you will...
