    Large Music Collections

foobar is great for large music collections, it won't be as pretty as mediaportal, but with the recently improved media library, facets ui, and search features, it is pretty easy to find the song you want in a large collection. You might want to do some searching in their forums too as there...

Ripping main movie and having playable .avi/mp4?

To keep the file size down further, with AutoGK you can compress the audio into VBR MP3 format as well (instead of AC3 which is bigger). You'd lose any 5.1 / Dolby related things but still have quality sound.

Intel's New Solid State Drive - Video Review @ [H]

Just wanted to say I've really enjoyed each video review you've put out so far - they're very informative and interesting to watch. They really give an interesting perspective on the evaluations that the articles might not portray (ie: physical size, use, commentary, "observing tests"). Some...

    Rate new build

Good call on the DS2H, I'll definitely go for that instead. And thanks for the advice on the NSK2480 - I'll definitely choose that based on the cheaper fans likely being ran at high speed 24/7. Gotta love the [H].

    Rate new build

Here was the case I was thinking of: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23679&vpn=DM-317&manufacture=Apex%20Computer%20Technology It comes with a crap 280 watt power supply. But for $48 CDN, its hard to pass up. Would I be running a serious sound risk if I went with that over...

    Rate new build

Pretty much the exact same build I'm going to be doing except I'm going for a much cheaper case, less hard drive capacity and a blu ray drive instead. Ulrezaj, so you can use the scythe mini ninja as a fanless cooling solution for the 4850e?

The "I've tried AMD Overdrive" Thread

I successfully use it with a 790FX DS5 motherboard and 5000+ BE CPU. Its stable and reliable in its current state.

5000+ BE upgrade to 9500 Phenom?

Yeah you're right. Immediately thought it supported up to 1066 and equated it to a requirement. Anyways, don't factor that in a ram upgrade then!

5000+ BE upgrade to 9500 Phenom?

I have the 5000+ BE right now and am pretty happy with it. One thing to keep in mind, you'd probably have to upgrade your RAM as well since the Phenom is 1066. So you should factor that cost in as well.

    Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 Up and Running

I figured out my fluctuating frequency problem, just a simple bios setting for automatically underclocking my CPU when its not being used to save power / heat. I have zero problems adjusting my multiplier on the DS-5 board. I can adjust it manually through the BIOS and also successfully...

    Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 Up and Running

I went with the Gigabyte 790FX DS5 board last night with a 5000+ black edition. Just got it all setup and installed last night, pretty painless process. The massive Scythe cooler took a tiny bit of tinkering to get installed but it worked out well and fits great on the board. One strange...
