I agree. Your peripheral vision is mostly geared towards light vs. dark aka motion. I think something like this could really add to the feeling of immersion without the high cost and specialization of Eyefinity, etc. Implementation and cost are going to be the deciding factors imho.
I guess I don't want to tell my kids 20 years from now that they don't have any childhood pictures because dad didn't want to spend ~$5 a month to make sure that nothing would happen to them.
