Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I was in a similar situation as you. I was on a venice overclocked to 2.4 on a 6800GT with 1gb of value ram. I upgraded to a 8800GTS and was very dissapointed with its perfromance when running EQ2. I still had to run at about the same settings as on my 6800GT. I also run 1680 x 1050
IMHO its...
Push ctrl+f1 in bios to unlock memory options if you havent already.
What sound card are you using? Sounds like it could be a sound card driver issue. Normally if my overclock isnt stable ill get the BSOD rather then just freezeing.
Sounds like something is messed up. This may not be the correct solution but i would reformat and start with a fresh windows and fresh install of drivers. Always works for me.
I also had this issue when i first got my 8800GTS. I tried everything.
I ended up reformating and putting a fresh copy of XP sp2 on my machine and it has worked ever since.
Wow Just got a c2d 6400 and a small OC and was a HUGE increase

I agree with Junkerjunk. I can notice the speed diffrence of my 74gb raptor. I am usualy the first one to load Couterstrike, and im still on a 3000+ venice.
6400 on the way. Ordered it yesterday. Better Value then 6600 IMO.
ive noticed this issue as well. I was trying to play CS:S and i couldnt tell if the person in the distance was T or CT and i kept getting pwned. Good to know, Thanks.
If your using socket 754 then it does not support dual channel at all. Socket 939 was the first to offer dual channel from AMD.
From what i read it was like a 2% diffrence in gameing and whatnot. So hardly noticeable.
