Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
xD
Rest assure this thread was not a waste. I was able to pick out a better PSU for my needs. The difference between Mk III's 850W vs 1200W is over $100. So, I just didn't want to just throw money away for no reason. The difference is considerably less for the NZXT, so I would probably never...
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I did some more readings about the noise level and here's some graphs.
Both were tested with 40°C - 45°C ambient temperature, 1 meter away, and background noise was roughly below 30 dB:
I tested running some games on max settings while streaming movies...
I wouldn't mind waiting a bit for possibility of parts upgrade (non-ref) and more warranty/review/ options for sure. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Though I'm gonna be water-cooling the GPU anyway, so I won't be benefiting from upgraded fan coolers from non-ref cards.
Oh damn, you're not joking about OCZ having issues... (brief research)
I didn't really care what brand it is. I was just looking for quiet PSU with good reviews, sexy-looking, and comes in white. The MK III also has the passive mode cooling switch feature that would make the tower even more...
Wow thanks for all the inputs guys.
Did some research and it looks like 290 is the clear winner.
But you guys don't have any predictions of when the next price drop is going to be? nVidia's 8xx series should be close to release right?
@raghu78 - I haven't decided on any resolution since I've...
Thanks guys.
So, 850W would be enough even with 780GTX x2 correct? Just wanted to confirm.
This system is for a bit of everything: gaming, surfing, video editing (rarely), OC'ing, etc.
Hey guys,
This is my first water-cooled build, and I'm having trouble deciding whether to go with 850W or 1000+W PSU.
Here are the components that affect power comsumption:
CPU: i7 4820k (will OC to ~4.8 Ghz)
MOBO: EVGA x79 FTW
RAM: 16GB (4x4GB) Ripjaw Z
GPU: 780GTX (SLI in the...
I'm building my first liquid-cooled system and really wanted to water cool a GPU. Would 780 GTX be a fine choice with the recent price drop and all? The GPU water block would add $100 to the price tag.
When will the next price drop be? I do have all my parts picked out, but I'm not in a hurry...
