no. i had a complete system already setup, except with a pci-e 6200, rather than the 8800gts. i simply unplugged my second (almost empty) hdd and put the new card in in place of the 6200, and tried to start windows. no go...
so i pulled the first hdd with the windows installation on it, wiped...
hmm... very interesting...
it works now on this new xp installation...
EasyTune5 (the gigabyte motherboard / overclocking app) reports my volt readings the same as the other ones, except the 12v now idles at 11.980v, which is still pretty good right? it was previously idling at 12.040v...
i might try that if installing windows again doesnt work
i just saw some volt meters at ace hardware yesterday for 17 bucks. cant remember if they were digital, but i cant really spend 20 bucks on something for a one time use, but i guess ill have to...
how would i know its a psu problem...
well, heres an update:
windows actually is booting. it took a couple times for me to blindly click my account, enter my password, and login. you can hear the windows login sound, and then some of my applications opening and "blipping" in the system tray.
so i used driver cleaner, and installed...
just installed a bfg 8800gts 640 oc2, and my computer will post, but then when it tries to load windows, the windows loading screen is scrambled. the computer seems to be loading things off of the hard drive, but wont display anything past the scrambled windows booting screen.
I guess it...
yeah, the 8800gts cards (any model) are sold out in every online retailer, except for bestbuy and maybe a few others. probably why bestbuy has the BFG sale right now. they must be clearing stock.
is the Thermal Intelligence upgrade confirmed or just your speculation?
if they dont continue...
I cant see how they could just stop producing cards. Theyre huge in the gfx card market. And they certainly over-price with the best of them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Maybe theyre taking resources away from the 8 series to start producing for the 9 series? Can't see how they...
fallguy, try reading the above posts before you make one of your own.
BFG returned my comment this morning. Their reply: "They will be getting cards at the end of this week."
That was it. Just one sentence. Seems fishy, but maybe theyre just having production problems and cant keep up with...
best buy has them, but half of them are on backorder (1-2 weeks my impatient ass)
as luck will have it, my backorder on the 8800gts 640 oc2 will ship, and then we'll hear about something new and amazing taking the place of all this lost stock. like, the cards will train your dog, mow the...
haha, well i have a backorder thats been going for a month now on a Bestbuy.com order for a BFG 8800gts OC2 640mb card (was sold as a deal for only 316 plus tax, with free shipping), and its killing me to wait so long for it. the card is sold out everywhere, and ive noticed a lot of BFG cards...
What has happened to the stocks of all the BFG cards lately? Even newegg and the like dont have any more BFG 8800gts's of any model. Anyone heard anything?
easytune5 (i have a gigabyte board. this is gigabytes program, which i didnt remember as showing voltages) shows me as having a +12v rating of 12.040v.
vcoreA is at 1.2v-ish
+3.3v shows as 3.320
cpuvid is at 1.310
no other values are shown. maybe with a restart itll show the +5v lines...
well, thats what it says. both sensorviewpro and speedfan report the same exact readings. not a typo. it might be that the programs just arent reading the voltages correctly through the motherboard. i get about 3 or 4 different cpu temp readings depending on what program i use, ranging from...
i was afraid of that. urgh. i really dont have the money to put into a new psu that would be worth upgrading. ive heard the truepower 2.0's are "fireballs" too, so i can't imagine i would have very much good luck if it overloaded. hmm...
i may just cancel the order for my 8800gts. or just get...
