No I don't know why exactly, probably just it's thermal properties and viscosity, it might make more of a difference with the newer chips, can't say for sure. I did use a dab of thermal adhesive on the corners to semi relid it, doubt it's doing much though.
Got the new power supply installed...
I think you're attributing your temp raise after a month to not relidding but the actually cause is thermal paste squeeze out, you can do a search and find many people have the same results as you when using regular thermal paste for the TIM.
It's been about 2.5 months for me now since my...
ACIII'ed 1070 +180 core and +500 memory always stays under 64C
C12P'ed 4770k (delid, @1.25v) @ 4.5GHz stays under 65C while gaming, about 10C while stress testing
This setup is very quiet at all times, even at full load. The only thing that makes it even audible to me is my Silverstone SFX...
Side bracket and CPU fans intake, fans under GPU exhaust. This has given me the best temps.
I haven't tried the noiseblocker fan, I know it was the original way to mod that PSU but the PSU definitely runs hotter that way since the NB doesn't move as much air, I didn't want to risk it. I'd also...
The c12 is also a good cooler and a bit smaller than the c14, still have to check for compatibility though.
I added an S12A on the side bracket, updated from this setup:
Keeps my delidded 4770k @ 4.5GHz (I think 1.25v) low 60s while gaming and about 10-15c higher during stress tests. 1070...
I didn't like the F12 for my CPU fan, it ramped up higher than I preferred, it might have been the placement, and my CPU was also on the hotter end before I delid it.
I have the C12P with an A15 PWM fan, love it, it's much quieter than the P14 that the cooler came with and it's PWM. I think...
They do make noise at higher RPM, but mine never need to go there. I think they run around 40-50% max (HW monitor shows 1000RPM but I'm not sure if it's reading rpm from the fans correctly) keeping temps under 60c. Like I said this is with a 1070, a 1080ti might need more fan exhaust.
Keep in...
It does, most of the retail Noctua fans do, I think only the redux fans don't. Keep in mind the P series fans use the older SSO bearing design, the F and S series use the newer SSO2 design. According to the specs the P should be somewhere in the middle of the P and F series regarding airflow...
I got my last fan (NF-S12A on the side bracket) installed. Right now I'm at 1.25vcore and 4.5GHz hitting high 70s max during stress tests and mid 60s during gaming. Going to leave it there for now since the weather is a bit cooler than it was a month ago and don't want to change overclocks...
Is there any way to get a magnetic filter with steel fan bracket? I have a v1 Ncase and have been checking the site for ages and it is always shown as out of stock. I have decimex filters but they don't work very well on the side brackets, and I'm not not a huge fan of the original fan brackets...
Yea, if you can fit it! It's a pain without custom cables or at least flexible cables. The ones that come with the Silverstone SFX are too stiff. I think my next project is doing the cabling myself.
