It's a solid unit.. it lags behind in output quality (half spec ripple at full load, not exactly segment leading stuff), but it's quite excellent in all other aspects, very nice soldering too (InWin proved to be quite capable in this regard). You have nothing to worry about, it's perfectly...
The Corsair Marketing Victims Association hit this thread in full force I see...
@ OP, considering the replies thus far... I'd say anything but the Corsair AX/AXi 1200.
Gabe's own review, the secondary analysis part..... also Crmaris' review (for the 1KW unit).... Bobnova's review as well (the 1.2KW unit) which is also interesting from the noise/ripple measurement perspective, considering what he typically gets with that particular oscilloscope, this platform...
It's not group regulated... it's indy regulated (AC to DC), and that's (most likely) the reason for the fabulous output quality... which puts these units in select company (Delta high ends and Flextronics DSP desings... and nothing else). ;).... these are, hands down, excellent units (I've...
While the NEX 1500 is generally underwhelming, and failed to deliver on its promises from the get go.. this has to be by far the worst performing sample of all tested thus far (by relevant sources anyway).
Cool write up Paul!
It's either a SATA controller issue or indeed a PSU issue, in which case you want something with strong minor rails (beefy 5v rail), look for a server grade unit, maybe a Zippy.... where are you buying from?
Indeed, the Lightning 1000 is a high quality unit... as far as power consumption goes, that's a ~500W system at stock clocks and a ~650W with high overclocks (give or take, depending on the CPU sample draw).
Do the paperclip test as suggested by Tsumi, maybe you got a bad sample (in which case...
They're internally identical (apart from the modular connector board, of course) and they're excellent units.
As for the cable mess... I can't see how it can be any different... it's a non-modular, high end 750W unit, it's gonna' have a crapload of cables... there's no way to address this...
Well, while that is true... is also valid for Many other vendors (from the most obscure to the globally relevant ones)... and it also needs to be put in a context, meaning, the NA is the only region in which clients deal directly to the manufacturer when they have issues with their products, in...
He's not an asshole, on the contrary, he's a helpful guy..... he's just been doing this for far too long (like many of us) and he's kinda' lost his patience.
You see, is related to thread derailing... we're just trying to clear something up for the OP and posts like yours are not helping...
Nehalem vs Sandy?... that kinda' breaks the comparison. ;)
Also, if it shut down under load, it's OCP related (you should have played with the PCIe connectors a little... see if you can manage a setup that would not trigger the OCP under load.
ps. the Signature 850 was and still is one of...
