Adding to this, I work with a number of civilian pilots, mainly doctors who have their own planes and do a lot of flying for work. To a man, they've either converted or are in the process of converting to iPads with aviation-quality GPSes.
It's constant, and immediately comes back if I switch back to High Performance power mode. There's a lot of stuff about it online, the consensus seems to be that certain types of power supplies (Corsair, Seasonic) cause it.
EDIT: To answer the inevitable follow-up, I see no performance issues...
Just a note, don't be an idiot like me and forget to install the native SATA drivers. Was getting these little hangs during periods of high disk activity, started investigating, and found out I'd never gotten around to installing the Intel SATA drivers. Was still using the Microsoft default...

12GB of Corsair DDR3 1600 (HX3X12G1600C9 G), board POSTed first time with RAM clocked at 1066. Went into BIOS and selected Profile 1, RAM speeds popped up to 1600 no problems. BIOS is fairly stock otherwise. Memtest is running now and so far shows no signs of...
I have high hopes for the Corsair RAM I got. Just put together a slightly less-beefy rig for a friend with the Gigabyte P55A-UD3 using the exact same RAM (also not on the QVL for that board), and it works spectacularly.
