You are not required to run everything at 1680x1050 there are other lower widescreen resolutions. Depending on the game I have mine set at 1280x768. I am also using a ati9700 pro currently which is a 4 year old card while in the process of an upgrade. You should be fine.
Isn't the new Conroe XE or Core 2 Extreme whichever you prefer to call it now slated to be the first one out in Intel's new lineup in July? At least according to this it is http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2170.

Did you try a differant resolution to see if that would help? I found the native 1680x1050 to be way too small for general desktop and internet use so I tried one of the other lower widescreen resolutions. I'm currently using 1280x768 for my desktop and have had no problems with text...

Speaking strictly for myself, but my current 22" CRT has killed my eyes the past 3 years. Thought it was nice and cool at first at how big it was but I noticed my vision getting worse the last year and a half.

What kind of framerates kind I expect with this monitor playing at it's native resolution 1680x1050? How does Oblivion and Fear run at that resolution?
In other words do I need the very top of the line parts to have my games run well at that resolution? I really like what I am hearing about...
I have heard a couple people mention the small text. Can someone post a pic of how small you are talking about? Also does the small text transfer into games?
I am looking into potentiallly buying this monitor so this has me a little curious.
