I'm getting conflicting information on the interwebs and would appreciate some clarification from you all.
On the ASRock Z87E-ITX there are 2 fan headers (CPU, CHA), and both are 4 pin. I cannot find sources that agree if they're both PWM, if one is PWM and the other voltage regulated, etc...
Well what an adventure.
I purchased a magnifying glass and upon closure inspection it looked like 2 pins were slightly bent but it's hard to tell sometimes. Fortunately I used the thin blunt end of a razorblade and bent the two pins back to seemingly straight conformation. I also delidded my...
This was the best image I could get. Does it look like that pin is messed up to you? Wish I had a magnifying glass.
I wonder what pins correspond to what. It just seems very implausible that the only thing not working is DIMM A. I would think multiple things would be messed up.
I'm all too familiar with that lol. Unfortunately I don't have another CPU to test. I could check the pins on the mobo, maybe something got bent.
Would Intel help replace the 4770k or am I SOL if it was that?
Well Dangman,
Literally spent all afternoon putting the build together once again. Good call on the Seidon, I got the XL with the extra large radiator, it fits, but barely; I measured perfectly. The bracket and mounting mechanism is so much better than the Antec, it's like night and day. I...
So with what I have now, temps and all, you think it's kosher to OC?
Right now I'm at stock. Got nervous with the temps so I haven't tried anything yet.
Already a step ahead of you. I tore everything down, tidied up the cabling, removed and applied AS5 & reseated the CPU.
My temps did drop, the min not so much (fluctuates between mid to high 30s), bbut at least with Intel Extreme Tuning it never exceeded 70C. Prime95 it gets hot, but seemed...
Only issue I have is the Antec Kuhler 650 has the fan+radiator mounted together. You cannot rotate the fan on the unit. So, connecting it to the front intake fan has the fan on the liquid cooler blowing air through the radiator while the front intake fan is blowing air against the radiator...
So I ended up tearing down the build and redoing things. I tidied up the cables, twist tied/folded them, it looks much cleaner.
From my reading, people are saying not to use Prime95 with Haswell because it's not validated for it and could actually damage it. Whether or not that's true, using...
So I guess this is about the time you say "I told you so." I'm way more interested in overclocking than I thought. If I wasn't, I'd probably be long gone now just enjoying the computer as it is. I know I've said it a few times, but thanks for sticking around and answering my questions/putting up...
Nope. Like I said, new to this and learning as I go.
What I mean is, there's a vent at the top of the case. I was thinking if I flipped the PSU over the intake fan would face the vent so it would be taking in cool air from outside rather than the hot air from inside.
I spent way to much...
I was thinking, the SG06 has an intake fan at the front. The Kuhler 650 has a fan blowing into the radiator, while the intake fan is sucking air in and blowing into the radiator. Isn't that effectively cancelling it out any distribution because the hot air is literally going nowhere? Should I...
