I doubt about that R&D being entirely spent on microLED. Small microLED lens are very difficult to produce and very costly. As optimistic as people can be, there's no microLED in VR anytime before 30s when we won't even get affordable microLED TV anytime for the next 4 years.
AMD share holders viewed PC enthusiast market as a dead end or dying slowly anyway. Therefore won't be any need to complete in this space, their desktop cards are just beta test devices for consoles, handheld, and other gaming platforms where real profit is to be made, not PC.

Kinda true. I was assuming when people said OLED is dimmed, they were talking about the tech across devices. Rethinking again it's obviously kinda unfair to compare OLED VR brightness to an OLED monitor/TV. The formula just doesn't work like that.
