As a DBA, I've yet to find a SAN vendor that wasn't 85% useless when it comes to support. We've had EMC, Sun/Oracle, and now Netapp. Netapp may be the best so far... but it's like winning at the Special Olympics with this group.
We once had a controller battery get marked as expired on a...
I've owned both a BFG 6600gt OC and a BFG 7800GS OC. Both locked up while gaming in any PC you put them in. I tend to think there isn't any special sorting going on. They just crank them up, charge more, and deal with the RMA's if they come.
I just love how it's Intel's intention to have 30 processors on the market, available in $10 price increments. That doesn't help the confusion any.
Wow, that case is enormous! It looks like there's about 8 inches between the back end of the 8800gts and the hard drive. You're going to need those 3 girls to lug that behemoth to a lan party ;)
I've purchased quite a few RAM upgrades for a lot of HP's, Compaqs, and Dells at work. I can tell you it's a crap shoot as to whether it will be compatible or not. At least when you buy from Newegg, you can return it easily if it doesn't work for you. Even with their restocking fee, it's been...
Off topic, but make sure you really want the e6700. It's $100 more than the e6600, but you don't get $100 worth of additional performance. You may want to save your money, and buy an e6600 for around $220, or a quad core q6600 for around $266 once the price drop hits July 22.
This just reminds me of just how much I love doing people favors. If you build them a rig, you're their free tech support until death. Why doesn't a doctor or auto mechanic ever want a rig built for them? I'd love to get them to come over to my house and treat my cold or fix my car. ;)
I should mention all my experience has been on Win2k/XP, where memory can go to waste. When it comes to Vista, it always uses all your memory, so more memory equals more items prefetched into it. So it doesn't go to waste. I still don't know if you'll see any performance difference with an extra...
You more than likely wouldn't notice any performance difference between 2 and 3 GB. You will notice it going from 1 to 2... or 1 to 3. If you're worried about cost, then you'd be happier going with only 2GB total.
You may have already done this, but make sure you've unchecked "Automatically restart" under the "Startup and Recovery" tab on your System Properties. If this is checked, you may be missing a blue screen you would otherwise be getting.
They are different offers (I did that one as well). I still can't believe newegg's insane customer service. You have buy.com as an example of the worst, and newegg as the epitome of the best. Seriously, if your car was broken down in the middle of a desert, buy.com would stop, steal your wallet...
