Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Okay. I'll see about the LED, if it's too bright, I'll just remove the cable from the board. As for the disk activity LED, I've never found them useful anyways, so I don't mind either way. ^^
The Seasonic looks great, and it apparently fits into the LiLi case as well. Thanks for the tip :)
Good, I'll look at those, thanks :)
As for mATX motherboards, I'm looking at a Supermicro X9SCM or X9SCL for ECC support. For motherboards without ECC support, I'd take some generic consumer board.
Ok, I did some additional research on the question of ECC memory and the i3-2120T, and it's not clear at all whether the processor supports it or not. ARK doesn't say either "yes" or "no", and apparently it's mainly a question of the motherboard chipset.
Also, what about the controller card...
I was thinking of getting ECC memory, but it's not supported by the i3. I'd need to get a Xeon, and even the cheapest low-end Xeon is above the budget, both in money and power terms. :/
The case I'm looking at only supports ITX. The reason I'm so in love with this case is the blatant storage...
Cheers,
I'm currently assembling a ZFS-based file server to store backups and stream videos to 1-2 computers at my home. It'll need to be ITX based, quiet (but not necessarily silent) and as power-saving as possible. The nice people at Tom's Hardware and the FreeBSD fora were very helpful...
