Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Actually, never mind. Something weird just happened and it's as if my monitor was detected for the first time. Now on the Control Panel, under Display, it shows the Asus monitor at 1900x1200. And all of a sudden I can view web pages (or Word docs) side by side. I have no idea how it happened. I...
I'd rather post these (2) questions in an extant thread than start one of my own to avoid cluttering the forum. I'll try it here and see if I can get any responses.
The questions will probably seem ridiculously dumb to most of you who know a ton about computers, but please bear with me...
Yes, that was a big part of it. Also, at $230 the vw266h was $100 cheaper than the ve27q at Newegg or Amazon or one of the better-known retailers. Someone had found a $299 deal at Conns, but I couldn't get comfortable with that retailer after having read some negative reviews and negative BBB...
I bought the VW266h on NewEgg yesterday for $231 (after rebate). Didn't want to miss the last day of the NewEgg discount. But maybe it was dumb b/c of what people are saying re: NewEgg and monitor replacement. I just have to pray that there aren't any dead pixels.
BTW, didn't someone say on...
I don't blame you for being frustrated with Asus and Newegg. It just seems to me that if others are willing to deal with the possibility of a monitor that starts to fail after 1.5 years but still works, and the prospect of paying $30 to get it fixed, and if that's a worst-case scenario, then...
I'm in the same position. Have been considering the Asus VE276q as well, but it's considerably more expensive than the $230 that the VW266h costs at Newegg after the rebate.
GSJNeptune, I've read your accounts of the Asus/Newegg trouble in other threads and I'm having difficulty understanding...
Hey, I didn't mean to make you in particular feel badly about your purchase. Chances are everything will go fine and you'll be a happy customer. I was warning others that they might decide to go with a better-known company that has a better-known return/exchange policy rather than save $30...
There's no way to determine that they'll do free exchanges given the language on that page. They might, but I wouldn't take it on faith. There are a lot of complaints about Conns if you do some quick google searches. Here's one in which the customer makes it sound as if 15% restocking were...
This is what I mean:
"There is a 15% restocking fee on all merchandise that is not in a factory sealed box unless merchandise has completely failed within 24 hrs of receiving the item or is sold as an open box item."
http://www.conns.com/returns-and-exchange/
So you can return the thing...
Thanks very much for the quick response, Jason.
One more question: 120 lines of vertical resolution (on the VW): what does that mean in practical terms? How does it affect my viewing of, say, Word documents and web pages? Is it simply an inch or so taller, or does it mean something else...
I wouldn't order from that Conns site, as they give you only 24 hours to make a return unless the product fails completely. I found an online complaint about that policy, and it seems to check out with the stated return policy on Conns' site.
Other than that, the lowest prices for the VE276q...
