It cannot. You can get a very cheap LSI SAS HBA on ebay for under $20 and flash it to IT mode to help with this.- almighty

My Areca 1883i (out of warranty) has frozen up now twice, randomly, about 2 weeks apart. There's nothing in the logs on the Areca device. The http web manager goes dark when it happens and I can't access the card. All attached storage goes into read only mode and/or appears "corrupted" to the...- almighty

It's never caused an issue with me. To be safe, turn on the feature to not enable an incomplete array. Then go into bios on boot to confirm it found the array.- almighty
