Is optimus a requirement for you to buy a laptop

It really depends on your use of the laptop. I went with an i7 and radeon because everywhere I use my laptop I'm always near an outlet. If you are going to be away from outlets and don't need the discrete graphics on then Optimus might be the way to go.

Games that you just keep coming back to...

-Project Visitor (aka 10six) - I remember playing this years ago on Heat.net and probably twice a year I always want to play it again, but it just doesn't have the player base to be as enjoyable as it was. -Deus Ex -Baldurs Gate I and II -Starcraft I and II -Jedi Knight II

    Opinions on gaming-capable laptop?

if it does come down to the wire for getting one, the Asus ShadowStriker posted can be shipped with Amazon Prime, so you can sign up for Amazon Student and get it shipped next day for 3.99, or two day for free.

    $1800 laptop

MSI GX660R might be a good choice. Priced from XoticPC, it comes to $1737 with the 80GB X-25M along with the standard 320GB drive I just got one without a ssd and I like it alot so far. Theres some noticeable keyboard flex on the left side of the keyboard, but its doesn't bother me at all when...

    Laptops with too high resolution?

My last laptop was 15.4" with 1920x1200 and I loved it, but I may have just gotten used to it. Anytime someone borrowed it they had to strain to read or see anything on it.

    "Sandbox" MMOs? More PVP please

10six has always been near the top of my favorite games. Fortunately, it still exists and has a small community around it in the form of Project Visitor. It gets pretty frequent patches and is still fun to play even when there's not nearly as many people as there were back in the day. No more...

CM 690 front audio jacks switched

So today I attempted to use my Skype headset so I didn't lose my credits for it. I wanted to attach it to the top ports on the CM 690 so I didn't have to lean in to my desk with them reaching to the back of the case. Anyway, I just couldn't get them to work. So eventually I just switched the...

Nobody with any ideas? -Memtest86+ ran for 12 hours with no errors. -Attempted to load Ultimate Boot CD and I get a similar error to Ubuntu and Backtrack except with isolinux in the name. -Tried to run Seatools for Windows, the HD passed the SMART test and the Short Generic test, but...

    New build having problems

Around mid-August I built a new rig since my laptop died and I needed it for school. It worked wonderfully until last friday when it started to just hang for seconds even doing really simple things like clicking the start menu. I had Vista 32bit on it just to get the wireless card working, but...

    Spilling water on laptop

Water itself isn't conductive, its the mineral ions in it that do that. So if you spill tap water on a laptop those ions will be there, but if you wash it with distilled water, which doesn't have any minerals in it. So as long as nothing was shorted in the first spilling, it might work. Its...
