    GTX 680 Concerns

Yea... I also find it weird, that Anand was pretty much the only site that tested this card with Crysis, and the results pretty much speak for themselves. Now you may argue, that Crysis is an old game and irrelevant for todays standards or whatever, and yet it tells its tale of the state of...

    GTX 680 Concerns

Not really a rumor http://www.evga.com/articles/00669/#GTX680FTW However, rather than choking on void of ram at higher resolutions, it chokes on void of bus. That 256-bit bus isn't going anywhere no matter how many GB's of ram you throw at it. And as far as I'm concerned, GTX680 is gimped...

Changing GPU - Windows 7 Clean Install?

I've had my current installation of Windows 7 running since Sept 2009, and in the meantime I've gone from E8500 to my current 2500k with three different GPU's in between, both NVIDIA and AMD, without reinstalling. The system's still running like I installed it yesterday, so no need to reinstall.

    How long will CF/SLI last?

If there's one thing that makes me cringe, is gamers going high-end with their hardware but getting stingy when it comes to the display. Should be excatly the opposite. :D My rule of the thumb is, your display should always cost as much as your entire rig. Only then do the ends meet ;)

AMD Next Gen confirmed for Q4 2011: Dual architecture split like HD6K series

As in 75-100% faster? As I understand, 6970 is roughly comparable to GTX570. First I thought about getting a GTX560 Ti, but the gains aren't worth the price imo. So I was under the impression GTX570 would be roughly 50% faster than 460, but 6970 would run cooler and consume less power. That's...

AMD Next Gen confirmed for Q4 2011: Dual architecture split like HD6K series

Is this for real? Damn, I could really use an upgrade now for BF3 but been delaying because I thought the new AMD line was still due by oct-nov. Right now I'm running GTX460 1GB. What are my options if I want at least 50% more performance in ~350€, HD 6970?

    HP ZR30w

I'm in the market for new 30". My current LP3065 is starting to suffer from annoying image persistence in the upper corners of the display. As LP3065, I gather this is also a panel with a low input lag. Would it infact be the best current 30" panel in those terms? Any other 30" panels I...

    Cannot use drivers past 260.99

I refuse to run any newer drivers than 260.99 on my GTX 460 1GB, for the very simple reason that they all seem to artificially bloat dwm.exe beyond something I never see on 260.99. On this and previous driver sets, it's stays around 30mb (I'm talking about Private working set) even after...

    Which GTX460 for silence?

My first card died exactly one month after I got it last october. Well, it didn't die completely. but the ram borked and was giving artefacts. Tested with https://simtk.org/home/memtest and got shit ton of errors from every test. I was running it only @800/1600/2000 with 1037mv. I got a...

"Do not scale" setting in win7

I can confirm, that at at least on 190.62, the scaling works. The setting does revert back to "Use my display's built-in scaling" but it still scales to proper AR. On Vista, it simply didn't work, untill they fixed it. My panel has no scalar what so ever. I like to use the "Nvidia scaling with...

GTA 4 PC: Professional Review Scam

I've installed GTA IV on two different systems. One running E8500 coupled with GTX260, Vista x64 and 4GB. The other, Q6600 with 8800 GTS 512, XP SP3 and 2GB. Installed smooth as butter. No problems with gameplay either. I haven't experienced a single CTD or a missing texture. Both systems...

    Contemplating a 30"er... will my 260 puke?

Well, the disparity we often see in response time measurements, is due to some of them stating the lower value i.e. gray-to-gray, and some the upper most value black/white; which in HP's case is indeed 12ms. While the 6ms value you often see on the Sammy is the GTG response time which measures...

    Contemplating a 30"er... will my 260 puke?

Greetings all. I'm sorry but I had to register simply just to throw my two cents in. I've been a long time casual lurker, but now I just had to comment on this. The misapprehensions surrounding the mythical 30" panels with 25x native resolution is sometimes amusing. I've been using a 30"...
