Recently returned a LG 32LN5700. Text was not as clear and sharp as my Westy. With the HDMI ports labeled as PC I felt it was still doing some kind of processing. I'm outputting from the DVI port on my card. My 37" Westy looks as sharp as any smaller monitor. Even my old 46" EX400 Sony I...
I picked up a LG 32LN5700 (Bestbuy didn't have the 5300) thinking it would be able to replace my old 37w3 Westy. Another disappointment. Text is not as clear and sharp as the Westy, you can tell it's still doing some kind of processing. Tried all HDMI ports labeled as PC and fiddling around...
Yup. Mine (an SE) just started doing this, although not as severe. I only see it in gray as well. I turn my mine off when not in use and use a screensaver. I got a lot of good years out of it but I'm looking for another 37". I dread it, I worry nothing will look as good (crisp text). I...
Interesting, never even considered LG. I'm going to replace my 37" Westy soon and I'm dreading going through the hell of finding something even remotely comparable. I was thinking of going with the 37" Samsung B530/B550 since it has the DVI-PC mode on the HDMI interface but I'm skeptical it...
Mine was on a hardwood floor. I don't see how the desk can possibility be considered "solid" even on design principle alone. It only has two posts connecting to the base... with a large font over hang. Any force on the front will bend and move forward. Take a look at OrAnGe's post above, that's...
I'll have to disagree with the Jerker being a solid desk. I got rid of it for this reason, you just graze it and everything is shaking. It is versatile though I'll give it that.
Anyway my 37W3SE is still running well without problems after a year. I'll only replace it if I can find an LCD...
I received a PM from Elliot today stating he is back ordered on some parts. He is expecting the parts to arrive this Monday and will ship my amp next week.
Looking for a status on my sub repair as well. Elliot received my sub on 09/24/09 (shipped from Ontario, Canada). Sent two e-mails this week just to get an update but no response. Elliot if you require further details please PM me. Thanks.
I have a 120GB OCZ Vertex drive and Windows 7 (7100) did not turn off Superfetch, I had to do it manually. It did disable defrag.
To take advantage of "Trim" in Windows 7 requires that the drives firmware supports it as well. OCZ will have new firmware with Trim support very soon. Not sure...
Winsize will do what you want or just use autohotkey to launch your apps. Here's an example of starting Thunderbird anywhere I want. WinMove plots the x+y coordinates and resolution (1259x965).

According to a recent thread the LG 37LH30 is supposed to be "perfect" for computer use. I would have to test it myself though. I've taken people's word for it before and got burned. It amazes me what people's version of "sharp" is. I couldn't go to a smaller screen either and have yet to...
A friend of mine has a 37" sharp and it's far from crisp, DVI to DVI. No matter what we tried we could never get it to look like the westy. Also threads I've read on avsforum suggest that due to Sharp's pixel layout differing from the standard square screen door pattern doesn't make it a great...
This is interesting. I went through every new Sony set at a Sony store several months back. Hooked up my computer over DVI to the XBR's and the V/W/Z series in the 40" range. I could only get decent text in "Photo" mode but even then text felt like it was ultra bold. It wasn't bad but not as...
If sharp text is important then the Westy is your only option. I've been through a lot of sets and they all fail in this regard... Sony, Sharp (the worst), Toshiba, LG, etc. The only sets I have not tried is the Samsung's. At the time I could not get over their ugly cabinets but I would buy...
