I went ahed and did this mod over the weekend, I soaked the screen for 3 hrs and the AG coating peeled off without any problem at all, the screen looks amazing now...BUT...when I switched the monitor on surprise surprise....a white virtical line from top to bottom on the left half of the...
it is possible, you need todisassemble it and lay some wet paper on it for 3-4 hours, the coating should peel off. Is a risky op. not difficult, but risky. I am looking into doing it to my U2410 monitor.
I received a U2410 replacement from DELL and although it was supposed to be new it had some 35 hrs on the backlight lamp, the packaging was ok bu the little plastic sheet that protects the on/off button was missing and the HDMI cable bag was open.
yes that's cause by the CCFL lamps, they are not emitting the exact same light, you are right your screen doesn't seem to suffer from green to pink tinting. The ccfl uneven lighting may disappear with time as they start to wear out.

PatK: I pretty much agree with all you said, well said. I have personally gone through 5 brand new U2410 and they all had some kind of tint issue, from green-to-pink to yellow in the middle or bottom of the screen, I live in the UK where, luckily, you can send any item back within 7 days of...
Yeah, I would like to know that too as one of the UK eBay resellers (XPSDIrect) is boasting about the fact that this A01 hardware revision is tint free.
