Thanks dave99, I suppose the nearest native software for OmniOS then for that sort of thing then would be MC? Regards

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Hi All, If I switch from OI GUI to OmniOS (which does not have a GUI), what are my options to view/copy files within previous snapshots? What software is available that is similar to Nautilus with integrated time-slider? Currently I have a cron based script (No Auto Snapshots) to create...

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Good to hear. :D I think it did that with mine as well, way back, because the drives had pre-existing partitions that are not compatible. I used gparted to remove all partitions and then initialised them with ZFSGuru.

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

I suppose last resort approach is to create your pool under bootable ZFSGuru/Nas4free and export it and then import it into OI. I had problems running freebsd with passthru under ESXi a while ago. Posted here solution here...

Can you try this and see if it will do a match (just a stab in the dark unfortunately): sd-config-list = "ATA WDC ", "physical-block-size:4096"; sd-config-list = "ATA SAMSUNG HD204UI ", "physical-block-size:4096"; Having one space short did not work for me previously.

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

No Idea unfortunately. Our padding certainly lines up (and mine is working): sd-config-list = "ATA WDC WD20EARS-22M", "physical-block-size:4096"; sd-config-list = "ATA SAMSUNG HD204UI ", "physical-block-size:4096"; My Drives are in a JBOD box with a ck23601 expander via a pass...

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Are you missing the semi colon at the end? EG: sd-config-list = "ATA WDC WD20EARS-22M", "physical-block-size:4096"; I found that the padding is very important. I have several SAMSUNG HD204UI 512b drives which insist on creating ashift=9 vdevs which means I cannot swop them out with...

Is Chenbro CK23601 SAS expander compat. with M1015/9240-8i?

I replaced the stock heat-sink+fan with a large passive North-bridge cooler. Runs much cooler and noiseless. Stuck a thermistor onto it and the temperature hovers around 30 deg Celsius with an ambient temperature of about 26 Deg Celsius. Regarding the 24 Drives, from the Manual: Technical...

Is Chenbro CK23601 SAS expander compat. with M1015/9240-8i?

I am currently running that EXACT combination with 24 Hard Drives and 4 SSD's (ZIL and CACHE for 2 Vols) One port of M1015 to CK23601 (can only attach 24 drives as it has 3 (x4) x Inputs and 24 Outputs (Inputs can not be assigned as outputs - Tried). Other port of M1015 attached to the 4 x...

Howto: Openindiana Growing / Resizing / Expanding a ZFS Root Pool in ESX / Hard Drive

If your Boot Disk on Openindiana is running out of space (napp it will send alerts etc) You can resize it in the following way: Hope this makes sense as I cannot upload all my screenshots. IM me if you want a PDF. I had a problem with my Openindiana Boot disk. I allocated 12G when I built...

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Gea, Is it possible to get Napp-It to delete the auto_mail_alert1.log and auto_mail_alert2.log files when we make changes to the email Alert/Status? Or if the Alarm reason is cleared (eg: disk replaced - Pool healthy), the auto_mail_alert1.log is deleted in case another alarm is triggered...
