    Dug out a spare HD, put my last good XP image on it, was able to replicate the problems seen on this motherboard within about 15 minutes. Thanks for the comments!

    Hence my error... ok. As the system has never been anywhere near loaded, might also explain the difference between XP and Vista in terms of a higher base load, perhaps? Thanks for the link on the Corsair.

    Ego? Just trying to eliminate variables and make the post somewhat entertaining. Case temps with the side panel on were within 1C, equal with it off. In terms of everything else, I've come across a mass of conflicting claims (even on these forums) with regards to wattage, amperage, etc...
