Problems with X-Fi and DirectSound in Vista (Two seperate problems{maybe})

Plus WinAmp has had NO trouble whatsoever playing DirectSound in Vista before, so I know not having ALchemy is NOT the problem, and I can't install ALchemy without having my X-Fi installed, so hat was a bit of useless information to add.

Problems with X-Fi and DirectSound in Vista (Two seperate problems{maybe})

Ok, yet again I don't think you've listened... After the install for the X-Fi failed the first time, I wasn't able to install those drivers again, so I've installed nothing but my onboard audio. The last install-attempt I tried was just a fresh install of windows without he X-Fi, installed the...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

Yet again, not requesting a PhysX engine, requesting phyics calls to be dumped to the PPU instead of the CPU... Physics are ONLY handled by the CPU, currently, not the GPU, so being "GPU limited" has nothing to due with the topic at hand... (Though DirectX 10 gets to push some of the physics...

Problems with X-Fi and DirectSound in Vista (Two seperate problems{maybe})

*bump* Ok, newest developement... At one point it decided to act like I had around 30-ish "Multimedia Audio Controllers" After pulling the card out and putting it back in it reverted to the usual single device... Arg, still no headway, and Creative support hasn't helped, and the forums state...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

Well, considering I'm talking about /only/ physics, the GPU doesn't handle physics. It would do nothing more than give maybe a 5-10% boost, and will also cause it to err less when there's not enough pipes left on the CPU (since the physics would use the PPU only, so it needn't worry in the least)

    Vista Volume OSD

Alright, so I've got an X-Fi Fatal1ty, and on Windows XP I loved the volume OSD. It was really nice to be able to hit my volume controls on my Saitek Eclipse (1st Gen) and see what level my volume was at in-game. Now, back when I still had my install disc for my card, it wouldn't work in...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

I fully agree with you that their all out to make money, and I understand time is money, but it's not that much time. Actually, it's really not that hard to mess with PhysX, I've played with the SDK, and a friend of mine who works for a Military Simulation company is currently working on...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

Depends on the company, some do have downtime to support their games, and others that have a lot more money have specific teams for patches, otherwise some games wouldn't have as many patches as they have. I'm not saying all games should do it, I'm saying some of the ones that do well that end...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

This I understand, and will give in to this statement, but it's still stupid that they wouldn't want to put in more work into their downtime between game releases, I mean, what are they doing during that time? Patching their current release... So they could spend a little bit of extra time to...

Why can't developers give in and make PhysX patches...

If the PhysX PPU is entirely code-based, doesn't that technically mean that any developer can tell a game to dump its physics math onto the PPU with some (I figure it'd probably take a couple beta patches first, anyway) for /at least/ a performance boost? I mean, sure, we can't give a game a...

Problems with X-Fi and DirectSound in Vista (Two seperate problems{maybe})

Alright, so... I've an ASUS A8N-SLI X16 Deluxe with Realtek AC'97 Audio I've also got an X-Fi Fatal1ty In the past, I've always had my onboard disabled, and my X-Fi worked fine, even under Vista, for a long while. No problems. A little clicking here and there (but 'twas expected with Vista)...
