Does your server have any type of iDRAC/IPMI/etc.management access? You can typically mount an ISO that way for an upgrade.

On a limited budget, I'd recommend some of the PluralSight courses as well. There are some great ones that are worth taking.

I just purchased quite a few of the 6TB models as well - they should be decent drives with low failure rates.

I can confirm that older MD1000s aren't too bad. Nothing you want to sit next to all day probably, but no worse than the attached servers most likely.

I've definitely run into that before and this was the solution in that case.

Netgear also has a switch that is powered via PoE, but it doesn't supply PoE power as well (power limits).

Very interesting. Also, a question specific to SRM. I see that Tintri has a qualified SRA, which is nice. I prefer storage replication typically - are there any issues there at all, assuming a Tintri box on both ends of course? Or is vShpere replication the preferred method? I won't...
