    The i5 is faster, no question about it... Some people would argue for the bang/buck ratio of the AMD, however, which is a valid point. I would guess that you can pick up an AMD system for 100-200 less than an i5 system. Whether the extra performance is worth it, is up to you.

    My Q6600 G0 simply won't do more than 3.4 GHz with my current MB (see sig below), and that frequency requires a lot of voltage (~1.5V). Sounds to me like you may have just hit the limit of your chip.
