    MacBook Pro Retina Black Levels

The MBPr is indeed dimmer, since IPS require more backlighting. But you get a much better color reproduction and viewing angles in return. I think the black levels of the MBPr are great compared to the TN based MBP According to the measurements on AnandTech...

IPS vs PVA/VA and LED backlighting

About the AG coating, it was quite grainy on LG IPS panels, I Noticed this when switching from my previous Eizo PVA to IPS. The IPS is a 27" Eizo production date August 2011, because of a noise problem Eizo replaced my monitor and got one produced on March 2012 and the first thing I notiched...

IPS vs PVA/VA and LED backlighting

I know both PVA and IPS are both accurate on colour, i'ts maybe the overall image of the screen that looked nicer on the IPS but I can't be sure about that since I don't calibrate them.

IPS vs PVA/VA and LED backlighting

VA panels are still better than IPS as it comes to black and static contrast ratio. I have had both S-PVA and IPS and I did not miss the extreme deep blacks on the IPS monitor, colours are more intense making the IPS a better overall monitor. Both monitors i'm talking about are Eizo SX series.

IPS vs PVA/VA and LED backlighting

    1. VA panels have deeper black indeed, but IPS has great blacks too. (My H-IPS type is very black also not like the deep blueish black as the first generation IPS panels) 2. Depends on manufacturer, most high end monitors are still on CCFL. LED isn't always better, they need a very good PWM...

Can a tft monitor be as good as iPs panel with screen calibrator

You don't have to have good eyes to tell the difference between a 6bit and 8bit panel... 8 vs 10bit is much harder to distinguish. The best thing you can do if you are not sure what to buy, is to visit a store that sells both type of monitors.

    Eizo monitor makes noise

Update: Eizo gave me a new monitor instead of RMA my monitor. I'm very happy with this solution, Ingenieur7 small companies do have better service, all communication via email (via AVNet distributor of Eizo) was personally and they replied instantly.

Can a tft monitor be as good as iPs panel with screen calibrator

The monitor you have right now has a TN (6bit) panel inside, this type is unable to show as much colors that an IPS (8/10bit) panel can show. Nice article about colour depth

    Eizo monitor makes noise

Tommye, that is what I thought about Eizo too, they never let me down as it comes to satisfaction, this is my 4th Eizo monitor and all of them are still working perfect (except for this one with the noise :) ) I do play games occasionally and I care about picture quality, Eizo has always...

    Eizo monitor makes noise

I would actually expect even better care and quality control from smaller companies than the big mass production ones? Before I have had several Eizo monitors and every one of them was great, never had any trouble before. Probably the noise didn't occur during the test as for the most of the...
