I have this issue too. Whenenever I'm checking inputs, disconnecting and reconnecting (all while the panel is off, mind you) when I reconnect it says "No Input Signal Detected." The only way I can get it to recognize is if I restart. Not the biggest deal, but pretty irritating.
And I have an...
Thanks, Toasty. I still get a little (really very little) banding with that image, nothing like what I saw with those pbase gradients. I think I have my contrast set pretty low, but maybe with a little more hardcore calibration I could see if I can get it better. Thanks for the input.
Just to throw my input in to the other debates going on in this thread:
I have this problem as well, although I'm not sure I'd really categorize it as a problem. It's intermittent and a minor nuisance if anything. I actually think it has to do with the mechanics of the button itself: if you...
Awesome. Thanks for your help, guys.
And thanks for that gradient you made, ASIA911. I see exactly what you described, a much smoother grade with very, very faint banding.
That pretty much calms my fears about this panel. PHEW! I should email the dude who made those pbase gradients and...
Well, to partly answer my own damn question about the banding I'm experiencing - I figured out it's not the monitor.
I hooked up my old CRT and the banding showed up there as well. This was with a different VGA cable (as opposed to the DVI-D I am using on the BenQ), so I know it's not my...
Hey if all you other FP241W owners could take a look at these test patterns and tell me if you are seeing any banding on your monitor I'd be really grateful.

Just check out the gradients in the 2nd row and see if you get banding.
I'm trying to...
Hey all you FP241W owners. Try out these test patterns and see if you are getting any banding on the two gradients in the 2nd row:

I tried them on mine and I'm getting very thin vertical bands when I display them. Is anyone else getting this?!?!
OK, I tried taking some screenshots of my new BenQ to demonstrate the difference between the VGA and DVI-D connections. Of course, taking detailed pictures of the panel turned out to be next to impossible - the camera doesn't have a macro lens and it has a hard time focusing on the surface of...
Dude, I'm in the EXACT same boat as you -- same machine, same card. Apparently, as DarkAngel_ZERO posted, you need either a Dual G5 or a Mac Pro (Intel) to run 1080p @ the full 24 fps. I get about 12 fps when I run them on my machine. I was hoping to use my existing CPU to drive 2 displays - the...
Cool. Thanks for the response. I have a new BenQ FP241W btw. I tried using the DVE disc (played off my internal DVD drive) and it helped a little bit in determining the blackest black. Everything else though was a little guesswork. I'll check out the Spyder packages. It seems like a lot of...
I got my FP241W on Friday of last week and have been breaking it in since then. First impressions just blew me away. I am coming from a 6 year-old 19" CRT and the difference in resolution is just phenomenal. The first thing I noticed was how much bigger it was than I thought it was going to be...
Hey guys. What's the best way to calibrate an LCD monitor?
I essentially have two sets of controls: those on the monitor itself and those in the software. Should I use both, or favor one over the other? Should I use stills or video? I have the Digital Video Essentials DVD which I used to...
Anyone know of a US-based retailer selling this thing with a zero-dead-pixel guarantee? NewEgg's got a great price, but they're policy is 8 dead pixels before they'll do a return and NCIX doesn't have any in stock yet. Any recommenations?
Anyone test the PIP functionality on this bad boy yet? I'm curious to see if it scales all sources down to a 16:10 PIP frame as well, or if it keeps them at their original aspect ratio.
The Samsung supports HDCP over DVI. All you need is an HDMI to DVI adapter and you're good to go.
