    i have just ordered these

    The E6550 has a 7x multiplier. I had no problems at 3.33MHz (476x7) but I had to up core volts to 1.42. Currently running at 3.15MHz (450 x 7) core volts 1.37 runs sweet and cool.

    Clean up the wires and get rid of that ribbon cable your memory will be much cooler. The improved airflow will get that hot air from around the CPU out of the case faster.

    CPU HSF blowing hot air over the northbridge into the 8800GT sounds like a problem to me. Can you add a top exhaust and reverse the CPU HSF? That would solve the problem.
