    Questions about copper...

Not too woried about what it would do for the pump, yet. I know a few ways to deal with that problem...

    Questions about copper...

I have an oficiallpletora of copper tubing, and got a crazy idea... What can you folks tell Me about the thermal transfer properties of copper tubing? Assuming 3/8in ID--1/2in OD: How many watts can I expect to disipate per foot, assuming a temp difference of 20-25 f? would a 30...

I just had to shout about this...

At the very least, I can take it to the local scrap-metal dealer for $8 a roll....

I just had to shout about this...

Was in home depot, looking at copper fittings, when I notice a clearance on 60' of 3/8 copper tubing@$14. So, I grabbed a roll, took it up to the register, and it rang up as $1. Nice cashier calls her manager, who sends an assistant with hte master price book, and the book agree's with the...

Water pump making monitor to flicker.

A rather simple test, to see if it IS EM from the pump, wrap that sucker in a few layers of aluminum foil, and make sure that said foil is grounded. Another think to check for, is to make sure that you arn't producing an AC ripple in the 12/5 volt rails because of the pump.you may need a...

    Watercooling on the cheap.

Not necesarilly. I'm planning on a sealed system to start with, and a pressurized sustem is not terribly different. A low pressure expansion chamber wont be hard to build, al will allow Me to keeps pressures at a minimum, while preventing mass evaporation of the alchohol... I suspect that...

    Watercooling on the cheap.

Okay. maybe I'll get lucky... Now then, on to more of the important questions... We all know that both distilled water and antifreeze work as coolants, but I'm looking to try something different. Not being able to afford a few gallons of saphire, Has anyone experimented with other...

    Watercooling on the cheap.

You bring up a good point. Now go away. :p seriously, tho, I have seen galvanic corosion in system that only include copper. the primary reason for it, as far as I can tell, is that with sections electrically insulated from each other, potentials build up... OTOH, it probably wouldn't...

    Watercooling on the cheap.

Bot> Going to completely replace the acrylic on the cpu. I've got material lying around... Timmee> Antifreeze and/or watter wetter are also in the plan, but I've seen pure copper cooling settups corode after a while, and I dont want that... Ballz> ground both peices of metal, together...

    Watercooling on the cheap.

The zinc is a sacrificial block. basicly it get's all of the electrolytic corosion, leaving the copper intact. just have to make sure that the zinc is grounded.

    Trying to locate a res

That's the one. Thanks. Dont need it so much for cooling as I do for how it looks, and what can be done with it. besides, the cooling can be improved pretty easily. put a hundred small square holes in it, plug them with clear epoxy, drop a watertight ccd inside, force a scaled perspective...

    Trying to locate a res

A while ago, there was an article on the front page about a tall aliminium sealed res/radiator. looked like a tall blue bong. At the time, I thought it looked `ok', but now I have a case in progress that it would work good on. ANyone remember what it was, and where I might be able to get one?
