Don't bother with a new PSU unless you need to. Besides, it sounds like these drivers are buggy as hell, so the PSU might not matter for a while...

Yup, mounting the PSU in whatever orientation is generally no problem. Although in the P180 the PSU mount is on a raised platform so the clearence below is pretty much the same as the clearence above. I don't think it makes much difference...
