    Thanks....I tried that and XP doesnt see the drive at all, I was thinking if I add a bootable partition, justso it will bootup, I can perhaps use recovery software to then access the data on the other partition(s), what you do think?

    I have a SATA drive running on XP, a power surge corrupted a sector, the drive has images and video I need to recover, Dell shipped a new drive and the computer is currently functioning, the bad drive is installed as a secondary or slave, but I cannot get the computer to boot with the bad drive...
