Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
If you read the Inquirer article, you'll learn that the card has a PCIe to AGP bridge. So I don't think anybody screwed up. The article is poorly worded, but Gainward was right when they put the PCIe logo on the box. Unlike the other AGP 7800GS offerings with 16 pipelines this card has 20...
For ~$300, a 7900GT will more than get you by until Vista and DX10 is released (at least 01/2007, I think). It's got to be better than the onboard 6100. If you don't want to spend that much, you could get a 6800 Ultra for $60-100 less but I would try to find the best deal on a 7900GT and grab...
From what I've read about eVGA on this forum as well as their own forums, they have the RMA thing down pat because they do a lot of it. But, if your experience is a good one that's all that counts.

First card on the page and it's 337.70 USD. This shop also sells Gainward on Ebay. Don't know if I can buy it from them unless they put it on the Bay.... :( But, they charge more than Price+VAT on their Ebay auctions versus their...
The box in the inquirer piece says 7800GS AGP but there is a PCI Express logo on the box also. Oh well. There's an Ebay seller in the UK that sells a lot of Gainward cards. I sent him a message asking if he can get these. Anyone want to buy a BFG 7800GS OC? :)
Edit: Oh I know why PCI-X is...
I have a P4 3.4EE, 2gigs of RAM, SB X-FI and a BFG 6800 GT OC. I bought a BFG 7800 GS OC this week. I put it in last night and was able to squeeze a little more performance out of it by overclocking it from 400/1250 to 425/1300. I could probably overclock it a little further but it is very...
The AGP driver could be causing this to happen. Also check the AGP aperture size in the BIOS. The AGP aperture is the amount of system memory that can be allocated to your graphics card, if needed. With 512MB of memory and an AGP aperture size of 256MB, you might be allocating too much of your...
It's a function of the hardware and the operating system. The operating system maintains virtual page tables that map to the physical RAM and the pagefile, if it exists.
When PAE mode is enabled those operating system page tables are extended by 4bits which extends the maximum amount of...
PAE would only be required if there was more than 4gig installed and only if /PAE was added to the boot.ini file. So, no 36bit addressing is required with 4gig. I think the user has already made up his/her mind about running 4gig. of memory. I'm not sure he his looking for someone to convince...
That's true. But, that sounds more like application behavior, not the OS. The difference in no pagefile and a fixed 2MB pagefile seems kind of ridiculous. At the risk of going off topic, I think Photoshop uses a configurable "scratch disk" or something like that for most of it's virtual storage...
With 4gigs on an XP installation make sure you do not use a swap file because it will be mapped along with physical RAM. You don't need a swap file with 4gig anyway.
Also, after installing Win 2003 did you configure it as a workstation? Here's a good link about that...
I purchased a 2405FPW back in November to replace my aging Sony 19" CRT. I have a BFG 6800GT OC, further overclocked to 397MHz/1.05GHz. I would agree with the others that it really depends on the games you like to play. As someone else mentioned, Doom3 won't be too much of an issue. FEAR and...
Sapphire X800GTO - I agree. I have seen this card mentioned as an overperforming value card multiple times. I lean towards nvidia's cards but I bought an X850XT just to try it out and if the X800GTO can come close to that card for $200 then you will be doing alright.
