Ok, so my trusty EVGA 980TI burned itself to a crisp a few days ago..

Nah, was just playing a game and suddenly everything went black, the machine resets, and the lovely aroma of scorched PCB permeated the air.. :P Asus Z97-A Ok, thanks gents, I'll be snapping that one up then. Integrated mobo graphics doesn't quite cut it. :(

Ok, so my trusty EVGA 980TI burned itself to a crisp a few days ago..

EVGA say they don't have a suitable RMA replacement in stock at present but have offered an EVGA GTX 1080 Founders Edition as a replacement instead of waiting. Been out of the loop for while as to what's what these days so am I going to want to say yep to that? ..or Hell yep! even? TIA

Looking for a TV card but there seems lots to choose from..

Ok, in the mood for a new TV card but there seems to a lot more to choose from since my old Hauppage PVR card of many years ago.. I'm going to be hooking it up to the cable feed from the downstairs Telewest box so I can get BBC1, ITV and all the cable channels that way. No need for a remote...

New build: Undecided on 280 or 4870x2

Ok, well I'm not sat here with my finger on the click to order button so if there's something worth waiting a bit for that's cool. Nehalem looks good but I don't think that's going to be a mature tech until well into 09 so I'm thinking give that a miss for now and see what comes out in a year or...

    1gb @ 400mhz or 1.5gb @ 333mhz?

Depends, if your system was struggling with 1gb and constantly having to utilise the swap file then 1.5g at 333 would benefit you more than 1gb at 400.

Converting ATX PSU to bench PSU, need to tweak -12v line

Maybe, but then what you're attempting to force it to do isn't exactly following design specs.

Converting ATX PSU to bench PSU, need to tweak -12v line

It might be a POS PSU but presumably the gear you're planning to attach it to you might want to not have mains current pumped thru when something goes wrong.

Transmitting audio/video from PC to TV wirelessly

So.. the guy at work has his PC in one room and his 37" telly in the other. What he wants to do is be able to play his music videos on the pc and transmit a feed to the telly to display them on for a party. Only he doesn't want to move the pc or string cables, he wants to do it wireless. I...

ASUS P5W-DH + SATA Raptor as a boot disk.

Tried that and it still hung on reboot. However it gave me an idea to try ignoring the manual and plug the SATA DVD into one of the other SATA ports. Bingo, boots up fine now! :) So it looks like my Raptor has some quirky incompatability with my Writemaster SH-W163. Cheers Oozish, you're...

Which raid to setup on my P5W DH delux??

To be honest, if I was in your situation, I'ld RAID5 the 3 Hitachis and use the WD as a seperate backup drive to duplicate the contents of your RAID5. Short of God feeling particularly mean one morning and thunderbolting your machine you should be pretty safe from most anything. :)

Which raid to setup on my P5W DH delux??

It kind of depends if you need any data security. RAID 0 should give you a speed boost but your subject to the whims of the HDD Gods. RAID 5 should give you a smaller speed boost but you'ld have the benefits of data integrity in case of problems. On a sidenote I'm having trouble hooking...

ASUS P5W-DH + SATA Raptor as a boot disk.

Update: Got hold of a XP Home boot disk with SP2 preinstalled with it. Exact same result. Everything fine till it reboots to continue setup then black screen and cursor. Had a good look thru the BIOS but as far as I can see nothing looks out of place. More update: OK, so I decide to...
