Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Also, set your frame rate to match your monitor's refresh rate. Overwatch tends to push GPU's to 100% when it really doesn't need to, hence the high heat.
In short yes, LOL. But with this being my first build in 10 years and not ever having to deal with air flow in between (Mac user), I learned a lot from this experience. It's actually addicting. I just wish I had the cash flow to tinker more.
Next project...sleeving my PSU cables.
Okay, so here's an update on my cooling situation.
- I traded out the Define S for an NZXT s340. As beautiful of a case as the Define S is, I don't think it's worth having if you don't stick a custom water cooling rig in there. With a baby on the way, it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. It...
Case fans are delayed a day (will deliver tomorrow), but I did try capping the max FPS in Overwatch settings and that seems to have fixed the issue. I did some research and it looks like a lot of people are having this issue with Overwatch (even on the menu screens!). So I set the max FPS to...
I've seen multiple videos proving so, but I just ordered a 5 pack of Arctic F12 PWM fans so I might as well make use of some. Any little bit helps.
Will replacing the TIM on my GPU void the warranty? I have a tube of AS5. Is there a thermal compound you recommend?
I will try to cap my FPS...
I don't have either of these, but the H100 series seems to be the standard in terms of dual fan AIO's. They also seem to be the most popular. I really like the x61 and it's RGB lighting, but I constantly read about how buggy the software is. Either way, I don't think you could go wrong with...
Hey primetime,
The fans are definitely audible when the card hits those temps, so they're spinning at a high rate. I even tried playing with the fan curve to bring them to 100% at around 60* and the card still manages to hit the 80's. At this point I'm almost certain it's the air flow in my...
I'm going to deck out my case with a bunch of quiet AF120's and see how that goes. If it doesn't help, does Sapphire offer an RMA for things like this?
So I've had this card in my new build and the build has been up for about a week now. Whenever I play Overwatch on Ultra settings, my card jumps up to 80-84*C. I would hardly say Overwatch is a demanding game and reviews I read have this card topping out in the low 70's on more demanding games...
Thanks for all of the replies guys!
I eventually went for the Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 4gb from the Jet for $177. I don't have a 1440 monitor and probably won't have one for a while. For eSports titles, when I'm playing at 100+FPS already, an extra 20-30FPS doesn't really make a difference for me...
I would say Rx470. They're going for $170 on Jet after discount code. You'll get a current gen card, Vulkan support, and easy 1080p gaming on ultra even on the most stressing titles. It performs as well as a GTX 970 and will perform as well as an RX 480 with overclock.
Take a look at the product links in my OP. Jet has a 15% off code up to $30 for your first three orders. The GTX1060 is $235 after discounts, and the RX470 8GB is $205 after discounts.
