Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Not sure if this is the exact issue I've been having, but thank you for posting!
I'll definitely keep it in mind if I start having playback problems again.
(I just built an HTPC, installed MediaBrowser, it was working fine for a couple days, and suddenly started giving video errors in WMC...
Their fans certainly are impressively quiet. I can't hear my NH-D14 cooler over anything else in my case (Corsair Carbide 500R with stock fans) even in a completely quiet room.
If I was going for total silence/quiet, I'd probably replace everything else with some new Noctuas.
Great review. I snagged one from Amazon last week which, coupled with selling the F2P codes, only set me back about $150. Total steal for that price.
Just installed it in the case tonight and haven't had a chance to do much. But I did run a couple benchmarks that cranked it up and I've gotta...
Just wanted to add/mention these things are extremely quiet - perfect for a HTPC.
Installed as internals, I can't hear any seek/spin noise over the fans (which are also super-quiet).
Thanks!
I'm going to run the 3TBs in RAID1 for now. Gives me some redundancy while I formulate the long-term plan.
Eventually I'll probably move to a NAS but as of right now, I honestly don't think we even have 250GB of media (though, with the HTPC, now I'll rip 150-200 of our DVDs) so...

She's alive! :D
The two HDDs are Toshiba/Hitachi DT01ABA300 3TBs, removed from the Canvio enclosures I picked up at OD for $85/ea. SSD is 120GB.
Wanted to say thanks for the photos - I just used your guide to crack open one of the 3TB Canvios that I was able to snag for $84 at OD last month.
Ran the serial number on the DT01ABA300 inside and Toshiba's indicating an expiration of Sep 2015 - so 2.5 years, or 3 years from manufacture date...
Glad someone else was able to snag them!
It's definitely a YMMV deal, as the coupon terms exclude sale items and more than one coupon, but given the quality of the HDDs I think it's worth a shot!
Yup, I've looked into CrashPlan before. It may make sense to go that route. Part of what's held me back thus far is that we have DSL and any significant uploads kill bandwidth, although QoS on the router does help. Still, it can be a fine line keeping upstream traffic from killing download...
Yup, I currently use a combination of Google Drive, Dropbox, and SkyDrive to backup the important stuff. Photos/videos are on externals and DVD/BD-R for the most part.

PSU question - the Corsair CX430 went on sale at Newegg again today for $20 AR. I've been going back and...
I ended up buying 3 at Office Depot yesterday with 30% off coupons ($84 + tax each) and have scanned two of three so far, using the Hitachi DFT tool.
I've run the Quick Test, Extended Test, and LongTest on each - and everything passes. Anything else I should check out? Should I use another tool...
