Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
The cases are so expensive because they are targeted at businesses.
You could use the sans digital case like that, but it would be a more elegant solution if you used a bracket like this and then an 8088 to 8088 cable.
How many internal drives do you have connected at the moment? I'm not...
The Areca card only has one 8088 external port. With the sans digital case you would only be able to use 4 drives.
You would need something with a SAS expander built in to be able to access more drives. These external cases are quite expensive. Here are some examples, you might be able to...
Will the chipset coolers mentioned fit on my 1680ix-16? I still haven't had a chance to bring the temps down and this might be a good quick solution.
There are two chips on the card. Which one is the CPU and which on is the Expander? My first guess would be the one on the left (closest to the...
I have picked up an early model 1680ix-16. The card works great but it only has the heatsink, no fan. The areca cpu temp get up to 75-80 degrees celcius. I have mounted on a small fan I had lying around and the temp has dropped to 60.
Is it ok to run at these tempuratures? Does anyone know of...
Thanks, and yes Areca does have drivers for esxi. I have tested them and they work fine.
Does anyone have a Supermicro X9SRL-F? How is it for ram compatibility?
Sorry if I wasn't clear.
1) I'm not keen on running the typical all-in-one solution. This is where the vm sotrage is provide by another vm (freenas, nexenta etc). I have tried this in the past and the performance wasn't great. I have the hardware raid card and would like to find a solution...
I am planning an upgrade to my ESXi box. I plan on reusing the norco case, areca card and the HD arrays. I have an exsi licences from work and want to run as much ram as I can afford!
Current specs running HyperV:
Norco 4220
Intel S5000PSL
Xeon E5405 @ 2ghz
16gb DDR2 ECC
Areca 1880i

Thanks mwroobel - I'm at work now, but will post some screen shots when I get home. I took a gamble and bought one of the 'blue' pcb cards. The components and layout are the same as the 'green' pcb but it probably has a much earlier firmware revision. This card only cost aus $180, which is a...
Im running an areca 1880i and just received my HP Sas expander in the mail. Is there anyone in Melbourne Australia who would like to help try upgrade the firware as my hard drives are only negatiting at SATA150?
Also, how can I tell if dual link is working?
Here is the blue card on ebay

After close comparison to this card it appears the blue pcb is the same the new designas the green pcb but has lower component numbers and serial numbers.... any clues what this is, how this will run?
