Back when the reports first said AMD wasn't affected by this, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Ryzen 1700 system, complete with $200 worth of DDR4. :( Oh well, my 2700K will go into another system, and I had been wanting to try the AMD anyway.
I have several smart watches, a Moto 360, Asus Zenwatch 2, and a Samsung Gear Fit 2 that are great indoors, but useless outdoors, where the screens are completely washed out. As I work outside and drive a lot, only my Pebble gets worn to work. All week battery life, and I can see notifications...
Similar issue with same drive. Try unplugging your other drives and see if it spools up. I had to install an 800 watt power supply to get the juice to get it spinning. Wouldn't work in any of my external enclosures. Otherwise, it's been a good drive for the 6 months I've had it.
Look at the mounting screws and hardware for the new cooler, make sure no board components are touching and being shorted.
Loosen up the mounting screws a little bit. If they are too tight, they might be bending the board slightly, causing some issues.
Kyle, are you sure that tiny overclock was responsible for 35 watts more draw under load? Sounds more like a less efficient PCB design. If you could underclock it to reference speeds, would that shine some light on this?
