Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hello Gea,
I hope you can assist me in a drive replacement I started yesterday.
I needed to increase my pool size without increasing my drive count (not enough chassis space).
I went and connected a new drive and used the replace command, re-silvering went fine and I powered off the system to...
the problem with spanned volumes under windows OS, is that 1 drive failure will cause the entire volume to be unreadable, happened to me two years ago and I lost ~10TB of data.
i'm a new (<1 month) user of OI+Napp It, and i'm hitting a brick wall when trying to set-up FTP Server on my NAS.
tried using this "guide" here :
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19963-01/html/821-1454/wuftp-231.html
but I can't seem to edit any of the files in the ftpd folder, seems they are read...
thanks for all the great inputs in this thread,
it's a great community.
for now I removed the SSD from my purchase list, will also go with OI & Napp-it as PigLover suggested, this does seem like a breeze to setup.
I completely agree about the power rating of 660W being overkill, i'm familiar with the efficiency/Wattage draw rating as well, I was looking at Seasonic because they had the Lowest W Rating out of all the modular PSU's I saw, Sadly, the Antec isn't a modular PSU and offers only 5 SATA...
Thanks for the tip regarding the SSD, I do have a simple 2.5" laptop hard drive, i'll use it for OS instead.
regarding OI + Napp-it, i'm guessing you meant Open-Indiana as a host for Napp-it, is there any benefit for that over FreeBSD ?
I've read about it and the WEB-UI seems nice and all, but...
Finally after two years of dreaming to build my ZFS NAS, I decided it's time.
Please sanity check my build before I pull the trigger.
NAS Main Purpose and Key Features :
a. The box will mainly hold media files - 1080p videos & family photo's, so speed is not an issue (80MB+ will do fine)
b...
just had a WD 2.5TB for $136.54 includes shipping from an Amazon store.
I didn't believe the price when I ordered, and probably neither was the store owner, since he pumped the price up to $200 few days after.
(should have ordered more)
AMT with KVM over IP available on either Q57/Q67 or C206 chipsets.
among those, only C206 supports Xeon with ECC RAM, but sadly - hard to find on Mini ITX Form.
surprisingly, I just did a Google search, and found this board : S1200KP...
depends, how much did it cost ?:)
anyhow, yea if it's cotton you should be good, just spray some isopropyl alcohol on it (usually inside lens cleaning liquid).
and I suggest you check your fan, clean it before reinstall, and check it's RPM through BIOS or a software if you can boot windows.
ExpressCard can only offer 5Gb/s in ver 2.0, which is similar to PCIe2.0 x1 speed.
Thunderbolt has 10Gb/s per channel, and since it's a dual channel connection, we are talking about 20Gb/s per cable, which is similar to PCIe2.0 x4 speed.
there was a test performed to see how does PCIe link...
yes we can read, but the real problem with those previous solutions were the link speed,(expresscard@2.5Gbps) , this offers 8 times the speed (20Gbps) , so it's a completely new method for connecting very high end cards.
you should be more worried with having the right tools and expertise, rather than a clean room enviorment.
lately I've had two drive failures, after a very extensive research, I've realised many data recovery centers don't have anything close to a mini-enviorment, also saw many success stories...
ES's are manufactured through the very first stages of a product line.
these wafers are of high importancy, since they suggest the capabilities of a FAB to manufacture a product in good yield/quality, so in most cases, these wafers are going through higher monitored line then later on when the...
