    The 2015 Sony TV Thread

The actual input lag of the screen (i.e rendering from the gpu to what appears on the screen) is different from the input lag of your keyboard. If you want better response from your keyboard, connect it to a PS/2 connector or something. That is from a book on 'exposing' evolutionary theories...

That is not ad hominem; google it. I know the internet wants to believe that name-calling is ad-hominem, but it's not. It's name calling. Ad-hominen is when you attack character -- and I've already provided an example of how that would work. I'm perfectly fine with answering questions when...

Go back and read that in context. That would not be ad hominem regardless. If someone truly wants to rationalize their purchase by spreading ignorant ideology then they're going to be called out and refuted. Take a look at the information Richard and I have posted about PWM. The first image...

Except there's been no ad hominem attacks. You've no credibility to actually damage, you've already stated that you are not an expert on displays. It's also incredibly clear by your responses that you do not understand the information coming out of reviews. Nobody has said anything that can't be...

This isn't about opinion, it's about fact. Rtings does not fully understand their own testing, hence why their subjective ratings are useless. They do, however, use testing methods which are universally deemed good; leo bodnar test, pursuit camera, oscilloscopes measurements of backlight and...

That was in response to input lag measurements, which Rtings would be actually useful for. Nice job taking things out of context. Rtings values contrast ratio too high in their review ratings, and they've yet to fully understand some of their own review criteria, such as PWM artifacts in...

Antec makes some bias lighting strips you could attach to the back. Unless you mean you're worried about shining light in the middle of a room (into someone's face.) I typically watch movies in a fully lit room, so I can't really comment much on this. I like VA panels, but I question their use...

Pitch black rooms is where VA contrast really shines, but you'll still run into massive amounts of gamma shift, especially on a larger panel like this. Glow is more apparent on IPS panels in a dark room, as is black depth differences (contrast,) which will have the IPS blacks looking gray...

    The 2015 Sony TV Thread

So, you've come to the thread to post ignorant comments, then get defensive of your purchase when called out (for some reason?) Cute. It's quite simple: There is no reason to purchase the Samsung over the Sony because the former has detriments that the latter does not. No one could possibly care...

    The 2015 Sony TV Thread

It must be so frustratingly unpleasant to not understand the issues outlined by NCX. Seriously, if you don't understand that consumer media is sRGB/REC.709 (not wide-gamut; DCI-P3/REC.2020), and that PWM is bad, then I suggest educating yourself. Most IPS monitors range from 700-1000, but...

BIG 4K - LG vs Samsung vs Wasabi Mango

Good lord. Let me be clear: VA gamma shift and contrast loss will result in a similar form of glow and desaturated colors the further we move away from the middle of the screen (in reference to our viewing distance.) I'm not going to humor your comments further, because I'm 100% certain you...

BIG 4K - LG vs Samsung vs Wasabi Mango

I will concede that the effect appears to be reduced on newer panels, but it still illustrates the same issue rather clearly (or at least it does based on your picture.) All I've been trying to get across the past couple of posts was that the effect will be much greater on a larger panel. Of...

    Samsung U32E850R (4K/UHD) - Eye Strain

I forgot this thread existed. Appears the Samsung U32E850R actually uses PWM but only below 100 cd/m2. So, my advice on lower the brightness was likely making things worse. It's a shame Samsung is so horrible that they include PWM on monitors they brand flicker-free.

BIG 4K - LG vs Samsung vs Wasabi Mango

Wouldn't it wash out in the particular scenario because the contrast has been reduced and the lights are off? How is the difference when in a lit room? I can definitely see gamma shift in the picture you've used to compare with ToastyX's. Side note: What is your gamma set to?

BIG 4K - LG vs Samsung vs Wasabi Mango

If you're actually attempting to claim you don't notice gamma shift (which desaturates color + blacks), then you clearly have no idea how this works in a sense of colorimetry. Please refer to post from above; this issue has not changed.
