I own an impressively solid O8G that easily crosses 2 GHz with little heat or fan craziness. However, I impulse bought an O11G, and it just arrived :)

7's kernel was compatible, but heavily modified under the hood to update old methodologies that weren't scaling well. For instance, most of the global locks were removed, the memory footprint was drastically reduced, etc.

Turns out pretty well. I personally run 7 on an i7-6700k paired with a strix 1080 OC. It's perfect.
