No it is not. In Gigabyte speak, 2.0 RAM divider is the same as this 1:1 ratio everyone speaks of. His RAM speed is 332MHz actual and 664MHz effective, which is less than 800MHz effective his RAM is rated to. If what you RAM is overclocked guys is saying was true, my RAM at 390 bus on the...
My son has a DS3 Rev 3.3 mobo that won't OC for crap over 333 bus versus my DS3 Rev 1.0 which will go up to 450MHz bus, with the SAME CPU. Given everything you've already tried, I'd be thinking a new motherboard.
Having installed more than a few ACF7Ps now, I can say that mounting them is getting much easier with a few little tricks. Firstly, use a plastic implement with a flat end to push down the metal arm without pushing down the plastic tab, then turn the plastic tab to secure. Secondly mount...
Buying a boxed CPU guarantees the seller hasn't already test driven the CPU and passed on a known poor overclocker to you, like they could do with an OEM CPU. OCing is always a crap shoot, but you want to remove as many negatively influencing variables as you can from the equation.
If your DS3 mobo is an older rev like mine, you may want to steer clear of quad core as the voltage regulators on those boards we're apparently not quite up to snuff for the current that a quad draws. Having said that, my Q6600 is overclocking like a champ in this board. I'm sure it could go...
Older motherboard revision perhaps? Mine also won't boot at 3.6GHz, but will run at that speed once in Vista. 3.5GHz is totally stable, and since Crysis only uses 20% of the CPU power I throw at it anyway, that's where she stays for now!
It amazes me how many people completely miss this point about allowable temps specified by the CPU manufacturer. I mean, people are more than happy to push their CPU past its RATED speed, yet shy away from temps that are still 30C UNDER RATED maximum.
What engineering basis do people have...
I hope that's not the one I returned a few weeks ago . The fan stopped working, and interestingly the CPU (E4300 @ 3GHz default voltage) didn't miss a beat at 65C core temp. The replacement I got works just fine and I would definitely buy this HSF again - much better cooling performance...
Just over 200MHz difference max OC between the Intel Stock Cooler and the best megacooler out there. A lot of hot air and hardly worth the effort and dollors of using megacoolers IMO. At least my ACF7P only costs $20 and keeps my Q6600 @ 3.5GHz cool enough for STABLE, not necessarily super...
P965 here and Q6600 G0 at 3.5GHz @ 1.4V super stable here (12 hour prime95 + days of use). I was all ready to upgrade my mobo thinking it didn't have the goods for a Quad, but she just keeps on surprising me. :D

FWIW, Crysis is barely utilising my CPU during play on my system, with the load ranging between 15% and 25% (of four cores), with it mostly at 15%. Mind you, I am running the game at 2400x800, so the graphics side of the house is pretty busy :D
